Lost database
I've been using Siglos almost since the beginning. I have purchased several new laptops in the meantime and have had no issues importing the database. I have upgraded Siglos about every other year or so. I upgraded today before loading everything into a new laptop.
However, the last two times, I have lost everything. I even pulled up directions this time and followed them to the point of insanity. And still lost everything. I had a second copy of the database on another thumb drive (I was hoping to be prepared this time just in case), so everything shouldn't gone in reality - just on a different disk. What might I be doing wrong?
Yes, I have made sure the directory is correctly mapped. Please help!

Re: Lost database
Could you please describe the problems you were experiencing with more details? Were you able to load an original siglos.db file into your new setup? Did you try using Tools -> Validate Songs in Song Database to check a consistency of the database? What kind of error messages did you get?

Re: Lost database
No error message at all. It behaves as though it's the first time ever using the system - except the people's names are there. No history to be found under the names.adam wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:33 pm Could you please describe the problems you were experiencing with more details? Load db
Verify that all songs that are on the harddrive - check!
Click add singer
click edit singer
search the name
find the name
click the name
empty history list
4 years of history - gone, at least appears to be. I'm sure it's user error - please let it be user error and I can rettach the db somehow?
Re: Lost database
Please e-mail your siglos.db file to support@powerkaraoke.com for testing.

Re: Lost database
Do you have backups of your history that you could check if they work?

Re: Lost database
It’s great that you have a backup on a thumb drive! Try importing that specific backup manually into Siglos,Geometry Dash ensuring it's being placed in the correct location. You could also open the backup separately (on another laptop or with database software) to confirm the data is intact.
Re: Lost database
I had the same issue when moving my karaoke setup to a new laptop. Make sure the database file is in the correct folder, and try using the Validate Songs in Song Database tool, it usually fixes any missing history.

Re: Lost database
Recently, I got a brand new laptop and installed the latest version of PhotoManager Pro. I carefully copied my myphotos.cat file from my external backup drive to the correct application data folder. However, when I launch PhotoManager Pro, it behaves as if it's a fresh installation, prompting me to create a new empty catalog, and doesn't show any of my old photos or organization. I've triple-checked that the myphotos.cat file is in the right place and hasn't been corrupted on the backup drive. Considering the user has verified the correct directory and has an uncorrupted backup of their database file, what are some common, less obvious reasons (beyond simple file path errors or corrupted backups) that a desktop application with a local database, like PhotoManager Pro or Siglos, might fail to recognize or load an existing database when migrating to a new computer or a new software version, even when the database file is physically present in the expected location?

Re: Lost database
A few questions for the smart people in the room. Would the validate songs function work in the case that you moved some files to a different directory location? Would the Singers History find the songs? I'm thinking of reorganizing my file structure to get rid of some duplicates.
Re: Lost database
If the filenames remain the same... You have to import the database again. You'll then have 2 copies of the songs in your database. There's an option to Merge Files and select the options that look right for your situation. There's a new drop down menu that allows you to tell SKP which song in the database to keep. Select Keep Newest and it will transfer all history of that song's use and remove the info for the old file path. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Lost database
Thank you, yes it makes sense. Will the singer's history still correlate?
Re: Lost database
One suggestion is if this should happen again go to settings --> KJ adv --> General then look on the Database file location line and ensure that the location is where you have your database. Sometimes, this location may for whatever reason, change to the default or another location. This has happen to me just once or twice but when SKP tells you that your database is empty it can startle you. Don't panic just check this entry. If it changed, route it back to where your database is stored ... easy peasy.
Re: Lost database
Yes it will preserve the history as long as the tracks have been merged.AbsoluteDJ wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 11:27 pm Thank you, yes it makes sense. Will the singer's history still correlate?
