i wonder what it could be.
i get the same delay time on windows 7, 8.1, 10 and vista. i sent Piotr my database file to see if its something in there.
____________EDIT_____________
so i did some experimenting and found the culprit....the singers history.
i moved the DB and created a new blank one, imported a few thousand songs and made new singers "singer 1" - "singer 25", lo and behold i put in 75 songs with 0 delay. added a new song for the current singer and switched it (the last second "i want this instead") and it took all of 5 seconds til the music was playing. exactly as i have been thinking it should be running.
then, i took my old database copy and deleted all singers, but left the music data intact. bingo!!! moves like lightning.
apparently something about writing to the singers histories when they get either large or plentiful is what is bogging it down.
i exported my history and got 20,551 total entries. 2,186 singers.

I think I got it, it indeed had to do with large singer history. Please see if this version works faster:

Thank you for your patience.

yes, that worked, but now the 4:3 problem is back. i have tried what i did before and it did not work. no matter the background or renderer used it forces 4:3 ratio. videos, announcement screens, and background images show full 16:9, but the lyrics of cdg are forced 4:3

found it. it is not fully compatable with windows 10. i re-installed under windows 7 compatability mode (windows recommended this after scanning the installer file) and run the program itself under windows 7 compatability mode as administrator and problem solved.
as for the speed, yes Piotr, that did a great job and even a full rotation takes maybe a second to close after hitting "add and close" and switching songs for the current singers is just as fast. awesome job again!
i do have a few more ideas for simple add on features that would not require much coding at all.................

Dana, yes, it is version .33
it has solved several issues for me. my large singer database was slowing things down, but this new build speeds up adding singers, songs (especially when i have a rotation of 25+) moving singers in the rotation order, swapping order of songs have all gotten nearly as fast as the first song. after testing it myself i had 25 singers, 3 songs each, and adding the 75th song after clicking "add and close" it took just about 12 second to do it and close the window ready to play. three days ago that process took 13 seconds PER SONG!! my host last night even commented that it was "running bitchin!"

SKP 20.0.33 last time
After updating to 20.0.33 settings KJ > Time display in Rotation
list: <LAST> does not seem to be working properly, reset registry to
default dated 9/13/2015 (did not repair). Reverted back to 20.0.32
works as it should. Downloaded 20.0.33 from link in forum and update
page no difference.
Note: Have run into this before new update because singers with songs
were loaded from presets and last time would not show until songs
were added from add singer window.

Confirmed.
And a little more. ...let me see if I can explain this clearly...
Everything ran fine untill...
Deleted three singers that left
Went to add song to another singer
Adds singer opens, but search field are still populated
Songs already sung are off by one (the sing ABOVE the one actually already sung is highlighted, the one that was ACTUALLY sung is not highlighted)
Keyboard shortcut no longer works either, any of them.
Just found out hard way that the wait before allowing go to next is also disabled.
Restarted SKP, and all is good now, but an ugly bug. I will try to replicate
