The version we use is the latest, 1.2.28. I have now resorted exporting without background video, and afterwards keying the background color out against the background video in our editing software. Yes, the codecs I mentioned were the ones I used for encoding just the background video, i.e. the video file I use as a background during exporting. Let me stress that all these test files played back very smoothly on WMP and external TV screens. None of these codecs seemed to produce a discernable ...

Yes, I tried using uncompressed avi, DV avi, avi with a few delivery codecs (like Cinepak), mpeg1 (VCD style) and MPEG 2 DVD. To be sure it wasn't the video itself I used two different sources; a commercial DVD and a DV avi stream I made myself.
